Do you ever feel like you get stuck in a rut with your morning breakfast routine? Where you eat the same thing every single morning because you just can’t think of anything better? I definitely fall into that rut quite often. My go-to seems to always be Greek yogurt with sliced bananas, some other fresh fruit like raspberries, blueberries, or whatever else is in season and granola.

I think I always revert back to this breakfast because it’s extremely easy to toss together early in the morning {read: running late for work} or on a Saturday morning after a run or walk with our pup Winston. Somehow Winston always gets a little lick of leftover yogurt once I’ve finished my breakfast. I mean, how can you say no to that face?!

This yogurt requires minimal ingredients and can be stirred together in under 5 minutes. It’s cool and creamy and hits the spot after a hard workout. Because it’s made with plain Greek yogurt {20 grams of protein} and protein powder {usually another 20 grams of protein} it helps to keep you full until lunch. It looks very plain before berries and granola, but you can always add a dash of cinnamon, nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice {so tasty in the fall!} for a boost in flavor.

I prefer  full fat plain Greek yogurt to help keep me fuller longer. Plain Greek yogurt is also amazing because it can easily be customized  to your own flavor profile. Many of the flavor added Greek yogurts have so much added sugar that are really unnecessary. Top this naturally sweetened yogurt with fresh berries and you’re on your way to a filling breakfast.

  1. This looks Soo good!!! What else could I use to replace the bananas???

    1. Hi Shanda! With summer here any fresh berry is a great alternative to bananas. I love to use fresh strawberries or raspberries, really any in-season fruit works in this yogurt so it’s completely customizable, which is great!
